Shadia Alem

Shadia was born in Mecca Saudi Arabia, and became a well-known artist in the Arab World. She paints, photographs and creates installations. Starting as a painter, Shadia’s work switched to bigger volumes that found their way moving out of the canvas and into space. In part of her works Shadia documents phenomena along the years and invests them in her projects such as The Black Mirror, All is Changed 9/11, and Negative No More. 

Shadia has exhibited in Saudi Arabia, the Arab World and Europe. Recent exhibitions include:

2012  :

Al-Hajj exhibition , at The British Museum, London.

„Being born in Mecca’s influence on my journey as an artist“ a slide presentation , at the British museum .

Art Dubai,  with some of “ The Supreme Ka’aba of God „ collection  tableaux. 

She was short listed for The   2012 Sovereign Asian Art Prize. nominated by Ramin Salsali private museum .

She  joined the celebration of  L’Institut du Monde Arabe’s 25th anniversary, by showing an important exhibition entitled 25 Years of Arab creativity.

2012 . November ,joined “ One Thousand and One Night “ art exhibition . Institut du Monde Arabe. Paris.

2012 : shadia participated in : Seeing is Believing, is charity auction , a collaboration between Standard Chartered Bank and the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness.

2013. joined “ Al-Moalqat“ exhibition“ jedddah 21-39 art.
